Along with my Writing Kiln colleague Liz Kay, I delivered my workshop ‘Inside Fictional Minds: Psychology of Character’ in Birmingham, September 2018.

We had a full house with lots of fun, learning and reflecting about what psychological models can bring to enhance characterisation and help make a story or novel authentic.

This workshop will be repeated in 2019, potentially in Manchester.

I gained second prize in NZ NFFD Micro Madness competition with my piece ‘Dust’.

Dust

At night I turn to dust, just to practise.

My husband thinks that I’m out on the town, on the razz, on my back. But I’m sprinkled softly on the surface of everyday things.

I long for a breeze to scatter me from this pillow, this book, this ornament. Or to escape into the night on the wing of a moth. But all is still.

By sunrise, I reform –  my particles not quite in place. He kisses the top of my head as if I’m the same wife as yesterday.
